The FreeSpace 3 system offers superb flexibility and value in a high-quality, full-range, Virtually Invisible loudspeaker system. The FreeSpace 3 business mixes flush-mount and surface-mount satellite speakers with a flush or surface Acoustimass bass module for ceiling, pendant or wall installation.
The system adds a flush-mount Acoustimass bass module to the original surface components for easy installation in a hard or tile ceiling, or on a wall. The new flush-mount satellite speaker provides the best solution for customers who cannot accommodate a surface-mount solution. Projects can mix and match surface and/or flush speakers as needed to meet each customer’s requirements.
It still provides the best business music system solution for many customers. The acoustic performance of the flush-mount Acoustimass bass module is the same as the surface FreeSpace 3 Acoustimass bass module. The acoustic performance of the flush-mount satellite is equal to the surface-mount satellite speakers.
Adding low-end bass performance to any business music system application is now simple and affordable. The Acoustimass bass module in an all-ceiling package adds the deep, rich experience of full-range sound to any project. Install the Acoustimass module anywhere in the room: in the ceiling; inside a wall; pendant-mounted; or surface-mounted on the wall.
Whenever you want a ceiling bass unit in a constant voltage system, you can use the FreeSpace 3 Acoustimass bass module. You can also use the surface-mount kit to attach it to any wall.
The FreeSpace 3 flush satellite is the acoustic equivalent of the surface-mount satellites in a simple, easy-to-use, flush-mount package. It can also be pendant-mounted from a solid conduit in an open ceiling, using the optional cosmetic cover.
There is no difference; they are the same product. The acoustic performance is identical. There is a spatial acoustic difference between flush-mount speakers facing straight down at the floor and surface-mount speakers on the walls of the room.
The surface-mount satellites have guillotine connectors and include wall-mount brackets in the box. The flush-mount satellites have two-position terminal block connectors and include integral mounting arms. They have built-in mounting points to be hung from a solid conduit and/or used with the optional pendant-mounting cover. They can be used in plenum (air-handling) spaces when used with plenum covers.
The surface-mount FreeSpace 3 Acoustimass bass module and the flush-mount FreeSpace 3 Acoustimass bass module have identical acoustic performance.
Yes. You can mix and match freely. You can use the flush-mount FreeSpace 3 satellites or Acoustimass bass module with the surface-mount FreeSpace 3 satellites or Acoustimass bass module. You can also build up installations with two or more FreeSpace 3 systems by daisy-chaining the Acoustimass bass modules together.
The surface-mount satellites come two to a box with two wall- or ceiling-mount brackets.
The flush-mount satellites come two to a box. They can be mounted in a tile or solid ceiling with an optional tile bridge or rough-in pan, depending on the installer’s preference or local building codes.
The Acoustimass bass module ships one to a box and requires accessories to mount to any hard or tile ceiling or wall.
Use the optional pendant-mount accessory kit for open ceilings. For tile ceilings, use the tile bridge and quick-install integrated mounting arms. For plenum spaces, use the plenum cover in addition to the integrated mounting arms. The rough-in kit is for hard deck ceilings.
Use the optional surface-mount accessory kit. Mount the bracket to the surface, securing it to a wall stud. Mount the tabs to the Acoustimass bass module, slide on the outer sleeve and hook the Acoustimass bass module onto the bracket. The bracket swings down to aid in Acoustimass bass module wiring connections.

The new round FreeSpace 3 Acoustimass bass module has these tap settings: 200W, 100W, 50W and 25W (the same as the rectangular bass unit). Remove the front grille and the cover to the tap settings. Move the jumper wire that is preset at the 200-watt setting. Using a screwdriver, move the wire to the tap setting connection you wish and screw the wire into place. Replace the tap cover and front grille.
No. No controller or equalizer modules are needed to operate this system. The Acoustimass bass module provides an internal crossover for the satellites.
All elements are available in black or white, except the tile bridges and rough-in kit, which are unpainted metal.
The Acoustimass bass modules and flush-mount cubes are paintable with Krylon paint or similar products. The flush-mount cube grilles are not paintable
Yes. The FreeSpace 3 flush-mount satellites and Acoustimass bass module can both be installed in a plenum space when used with a plenum cover.
