A carefully engineered ArenaMatch system brings clear speech and powerful performance to a landmark National Games venue
You can find Bose Professional installed audio systems in some of the most recognizable sports venues globally, including stadiums associated with clubs like Real Madrid and Juventus, as well as international events such as the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Across sports — from football to basketball, cricket, and beyond — these systems play a crucial role in shaping atmosphere and engagement.
That same premium experience now extends to the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center, also known as the Spring Cocoon. A major landmark in the Greater Bay Area, the venue is a key cultural and tourism destination in Shenzhen. Originally opened in 2011, it recently underwent a comprehensive upgrade to prepare for its role as an important host site for the 15th National Games in 2025.
As a primary competition and ceremony venue, the stadium required a sound system capable of delivering exceptionally clear speech for sporting events along with strong music performance for ceremonies and shows. “The Shenzhen Bay Sports Center needed a sound system that can deliver very clear speech for sports events and great music performance for shows,” said Jimmy Zhang from Bose Professional.
Designed for Clear, Effortless Sound
The Shenzhen Bay Sports Center is a large, multifunctional stadium with a vast open structure and expansive seating areas — conditions that make sound control particularly challenging. In order to deliver clear speech, minimize echoes, and ensure consistent coverage across both the stands and the playing field, the team developed a solution engineered specifically for the venue.
To meet these requirements, Bose Professional selected ArenaMatch line array loudspeakers featuring DeltaQ technology. DeltaQ provides variable sound coverage by allowing each loudspeaker module to be configured for specific horizontal and vertical dispersion patterns. This modular approach enables sound to be directed precisely to where the audience sits, supporting clarity, consistency, and control throughout the stadium.
Precision Through Modeler Simulation
To fully take advantage of DeltaQ’s variable coverage capabilities, the Bose Professional team used Modeler acoustic simulation software to design the system in a virtual environment before installation. Using Modeler, the team precisely planned the angle, position, and height of each loudspeaker.
Through iterative simulation and optimization, the final system design was refined to ensure the sound field closely matched the stadium’s geometry and seating layout.
In total, 208 ArenaMatch line array loudspeakers were installed at the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center. 72 loudspeakers were deployed in the arena with 136 loudspeakers installed throughout the stadium. All loudspeakers were installed according to the positions and angles determined during the Modeler simulations. The system is powered by 37 PowerShareX PSX4804D amplifiers.
Sound That Matches the Scale of the Venue
In practice, the results are immediately apparent. Whether you’re in the stands or on the playing field, sound is clear, direct, and evenly full.
Even within the stadium’s expansive open structure, the system delivers an immersive and powerful listening experience — overcoming the acoustic challenges posed by the building itself. The sound field precisely matches the seating layout, ensuring consistent intelligibility and coverage across the entire venue.
