CASE STUDY – GRADIALI SPA | HOSPITALITY

About the Project

How Bose Professional and Hansab helped create a one-of-a-kind, technology-enhanced wellness experience

Just 500 meters from the Baltic Sea, Gradiali Palanga is one of Lithuania’s premier wellness and relaxation destinations. In 2025, the resort expanded its offering with a newly built swimming pool and sauna extension — designed not only for peaceful rest but also for immersive events that combine sound, visuals, lighting, and motion into a singular guest experience.

The new space was conceived as the first swimming and sauna area in Lithuania to bring together a large high-resolution LED screen, immersive sound, theatrical lighting, and integrated control — demonstrating how technology can enhance atmosphere without compromising comfort.

The Challenge: Immersion in a Demanding Environment

Gradiali’s new swimming and sauna space is a newly built extension connected to the original wellness and relaxation complex, with no legacy systems to replace. This provided an opportunity to design the experience from the ground up — but also meant every technology decision had to perform reliably in a humid, highly reverberant pool environment.

The Gradiali team aimed to surprise guests with an immersive, multi-sensory environment while preserving the calm, restorative qualities expected of a spa. The system needed to support both daily relaxation — prioritizing acoustic comfort, clarity, and even coverage rather than high volume — and special events, all while remaining easy for non-technical staff to operate.

“Our Gradiali team is always looking for new ideas and challenges to create an unforgettable and high-quality experience for our guests,” said Eglė Plesevičiūtė, Marketing Manager at Gradiali. “We wanted to make a one-of-a-kind swimming pool and sauna area in Lithuania, where people would be surprised by a large high-resolution screen and its visual possibilities.”

The Solution: Predictive Design and Integrated Technology

In a wet, reflective pool environment, sound quality depends on control. Gradiali needed an audio system that could deliver clear, even sound at comfortable listening levels — enhancing relaxation while remaining flexible enough to support events and special programming.

Hansab selected Bose Professional for the audio system based on its experience in professional sound and its ability to perform in acoustically challenging environments such as pools and spa facilities. The focus was not maximum output but intelligibility, balance, and listening comfort.

“Sound, just like visuals, is an important part of what we feel,” said Plesevičiūtė. “That’s why we wanted to create a spa space where everything works together — image, quality sound, and lighting — to give a truly memorable experience.”

Using Bose Professional Modeler software and the Auditioner playback system, Hansab evaluated and refined the acoustics before construction began. Auditioner allowed the team to hear how the system would perform in the finished space, helping address reverberation challenges early and ensuring clarity and tonal balance from the outset.

The Bose Professional audio system interoperates with the LED video wall, lighting, fog effects, and water features — supporting a synchronized, multi-sensory experience controlled through a single interface.

Main Hall Performance and Supporting Zones

The main pool hall is anchored by a Bose Professional system designed for wide, even coverage and low listening fatigue. It features ArenaMatch Utility AMU208 loudspeakers paired with MB210-WR subwoofers, delivering full-range sound suitable for both ambient programming and events. Sound is managed by a ControlSpace EX-1280 DSP and powered by a flexible amplification platform.

Beyond the main hall, supporting zones throughout the extension — including circulation areas and adjacent spaces — are covered by a complementary mix of AMU105, DesignMax, and FreeSpace loudspeakers. This approach ensures consistent voicing and coverage across the entire spa environment without drawing attention to the technology itself.

One Unified Experience, Engineered by Hansab

Hansab served as the technology partner for the entire project, designing and integrating all systems — including audio, LED video, lighting, fog effects, and centralized control — into a single, unified environment.

All components were adapted for the humid pool setting to ensure durability and reliable operation. Hansab also developed a custom control interface that allows non-technical staff to manage sound, visuals, lighting, water features, and scene presets from a tablet or wall panel.

Rather than deploying separate standalone systems, Hansab engineered the space so that sound, visuals, lighting, and control work together as one experience.

“In this project, technologies are more than just functional solutions — they become an integral part of the guest experience,” said Darius Žekonis, CEO at Hansab UAB.

Results that Exceeded Expectations

Since opening, the new swimming pool and sauna area has exceeded expectations for both everyday guests and special events. Sound remains clear, evenly distributed, and comfortable, while visuals and lighting add impact without disrupting the sense of calm. The entire environment can shift moods effortlessly through simple controls.

“The greatest value lies in working with a client who is open to exploring new possibilities,” said Žekonis. “The result is a space that redefines what a wellness experience can be. We’re proud to have contributed to a space that surprises, inspires, and stays in memory.”

Through predictive design, careful system integration, and close collaboration, Gradiali’s new pool and sauna extension show how thoughtfully applied technology can enhance wellness experiences — even in acoustically challenging environments.
